Well, it is my 4th week on the South Beach diet and I think it's going really well. Aside from weight loss, I noticed that my cravings are much more manageable now that I'm not restricting "all" carbs. Also, if I do happen to eat something off plan, my weight doesn't spike up like it would if I was on other diets. My body has learned to tolerate carbs again, without retaining water in the process.

That said, I lost 1 pound this week. I consider that a victory given it was that time of the month, and I always retain water like crazy. I actually went up 1 pound then lost that one plus another one. I'm less than 15 pounds from my goal - so I'm excited! I also lost .5 inches in my waist this week. Maybe it's true that on SB, you really do "lose belly fat first."

This week, I plan to continue my exercise and try to up my water intake. I admit I've been sticking mostly to Diet Coke and the occasional cup of juice or seltzer.
